Biography

Born in Fukuoka in 1968. After learning Chinese martial arts and oriental medicine, began working for NGOs . Joined NGO activities to support indigenous people in North America and hill tribes in Thailand in 1990. Started the "foot bath" volunteers for the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and passed the activity on to students for disasters in Chuetsu and the Noto Peninsula. Wrote and published "Inochi wo Mamoru Chie" (Wisdom for Protecting Lives) in 2006 after visiting stricken areas in Japan in search of disaster mitigation wisdom. Active in stricken areas of Indonesia, Pakistan and Sichuan(CHINA),Haiti, Philippines, Nepal   as staff member of CODE since 2004.he assumed office as Secretary General of CODE in 2013. 'Appeared in NHK "Professional-Work Style" in March 2016. In 2017, he became director of the Kansai NGO Council. Served as chair of the 2018 Kannsai-SDGs Citizen Agenda Subcommittee. Currently serving as a part-time lecturer at Kobe University, Kobe Gakuin University, Hyogo Prefectural University, Ryukoku University, Osaka University, Kobe Jogakuin University, Kobe Women's University, and Hyogo Maiko High School. Received the 4th Toshitami Kaihara“Beautiful Hyogo Making Award” in 2019. He currently serves as a permanent director of the Kansai NGO Council and an advisor to the Research Institute of Education and Safety Science, Xin'an Century, Sichuan, China.
